These technologies help to quickly solve many common problems in data processing centers, such as complications to build, upscale and program the network infrastructure. Experts say that in 2014 the IT industry will undergo the following changes:
- The network functions will be virtualized (NFV);
- Data centers will become smaller due to programmatically configured network solutions;
- Cloud services and technologies will rapidly grow and be actively used;
- The total volume of data to store will also grow.
The last prognosis is already happened. The rapid growth of Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) employment automatically increases the data volume, which becomes too big to store. The largest concern of the enterprises regarding data storage infrastructure is security, but the questions of what to store, why, what’s the quality and the importance of data stored are also their primary goals. Radical changes are expected in existing data centers regarding backbone building and maintenance.
According to analytical agencies’ data, the total market value of cloud technologies will exceed $19.5 billion in 2916, with yearly growth of 36%.
